CallerID broken with Gevey Ultra? You can try this…

So a friend of mine was have trouble with his CallerID with Gevey Ultra. Remember our previous post on fixing CallerID called for the package in Cydia namely, CallerID and Format Fix for 3.x. Well, to no surprise that package will not install properly due to its permissions and one file it replaces will clash with one in FuriousMod hence causing a conflict.

Never fear, we have the two files needed in a rar file for you here.

What you want to do is basically replace those two files. The first one is not absolutely necessary as FuriousMod has already formatted it for us (it should be 8.4kB) but the second file (Default.phoneformats) is more important to replace for CallerID to work.

So first, Download the file we talked about above which has the two necessary files. They are already in the respective folder locations but I’ll still go through the steps.

  • Navigate to the following directory: (you may use iFile/iFunBox/SSH via WinSCP)

\System\Library\Frameworks\UIKit.framework\PhoneFormats

and if the single file (UIMobileCountryCodes.plist) is 8.4kB it is not necessary to replace it, but you can if you wish.

  • Reboot the phone. (you can let the gevey ultra do its thing in the background while you do the next step.)
  • Navigate to another directory:

\System\Library\PrivateFrameworks\AppSupport.framework

and Replace the Default.phoneformat from the rar file.

  • Then, Reboot.

That second one is important to replace. I noticed the change in Formatting in Phone.app when the phone rebooted.

Furious Mod should still function without issues. Leave it to do it’s thing and within a minute you should have signal AND CallerID would be fixed!

If you get errors in Cydia, you can remove the Furious Mod Repository and it should Refresh cleanly.

NOTE: this may work for the new gevey ultra s for the iPhone 4S but I have not tested it.

I hope this has helped you out. The video where i saw the guy replacing the formats in the first file we talked about didnt work for me so I tried this and it works.

    @GeveySIM I’m having the same problem with the gevey ultra!
    I first had the gevey turbo sim no problem with caller I’d.
    Today I  installed the needed I’d format fix, then the gevey ultra
    Sim card. Signals bars showed but, from my contacts only the
    Number shows!!! Please I need help people!!

  2. Are you jailbroken? Then follow the above by replacing the respective files etc. Should work out once you are from the covered countries in the original patch from ispazio

    I try to install the furiosmod on ios 5, but I’ve an error:
    Subprocess error bla bla bla..

    And also I can’t find \System\Library\Frameworks\UIKit.framework\PhoneFormats folder on ios 5..

    Did you already try furiousmod on ios 5? And is it work ok on your side?

    • Sadly I haven’t tested this on iOS5 partly because the jailbreak is tethered and also the phone I do it for was stolen.

    Hi, I’m using iPhone 4 iOS 5.0.1, I have problem with caller id and Gevey Ultra. I try to fix, but does not work with me in showing my contact name in Message. Any help?

    • Sadly I have no idea what has changed. Did you try the above?The phone I’d normally test this with was stolen. 

    • Also, where are you from? May be its in a location where even the modified files are not supporting

  9. your solution worked just….. GREAT!! The only solution that really works. I had the problem using iPhone 4S with Gevey Ultra S… and that worked just great with iPhone 4S, 5.0.1, Gevey Ultra S.

    For 3 months i am having this problem now i figured out how to SOLVE this problem.

    NOTE: Do not insert your gevey sim yet!

    1. Installed FuriousMod from cydia.
    2. Reboot.
    3. Did a General–> reset –> reset all settings
    4. After the reboot turn off iphone then
    5. Insert Gevey SIM turn on iphone
    6. dance!

    • It could be possible that the callerid and format fix isn’t supported for Ghana codes ;( sorry if that’s true.

  14. It works great here in Brazil Using gevey ultra s on Iphone 4s !only problem is that i can´t use DDD on the contact ie. 041(34)36710000
    I have to use 36710000 with means that I cant call back from recieved calls otherwise huge phone bills ! Any way to fix that ? many thanks !

    • Glad it worked partially! That I’m not sure sorry. I think their is an app that can transform your contact numbers to a certain format but of course callers who aren’t on your contact list, it won’t work on.

    What if i dont want to jailbreak the phone.. Is it possible to get my caller I.D on an iphone 4s using a gevey ultra S sim card?

    • This method works solely on Jailbroken iPhones. I don’t know of a method to work on non-JB iPhones sorry.

        So if i decide to jailbreak an unlocked iphone 4s, i shouldn’t have a problem? Cause all i know if the phone is unlocked, i am not supposed to update or change the firmware of the phone, right?

      • Just be careful what you are doing. Try using a tool like TinyUmbrella to backup something known as SHSHs for iOS 5.1.1. I’m not sure if 5.1.1 is still being signed by apple since iOS 6 was released today. Things can go wrong and I wouldn’t want you having to update to iOS 6 and losing your unlock and the ability to jailbreak.

    • Just place them in the same specified folder and it will ask you if to replace them. 🙂
