If you some how happen to have a jailbreak on iOS 5, then you may have heard of Activator. This is a gesture driven tweak than can be used to callout things from apps to settings to SBSettings to whatever.

So two things added were activate notification center and send a new tweet! :

What I did for a new tweet was add the option for “Anywhere” and when I “double tap the status bar” a new tweet option is made available!

For now the jailbreak is tethered on iOS 5 for most devices except A5 processors which no iOS 5 jailbreak is available to the public yet.

Here is where googling (if there is no such word… IT SHOULD BE MADE A WORD!) came into play. I discovered this solution posted by Oron Joffe in this page.

Seeing as the thread is still live and there’s interest in the subject, here’s a method more suitable to large numbers of messages.

In GMail, create a new label and mark all the messages that you want to export. Now use Thunderbird to connect to GMail over IMAP, and subscribe to the label (in IMAP, GMail labels appear as folders). This will download all the messages you need, but not others (apart from the inbox, which will be automatically subscribed).
Download ImportExportTools from http://nic-nac-project.org/~ka… and install it into Thunderbird (Tools=>Add Ons… Install…). Restart Thunderbird to complete the installation

Now click on the folder you want to export, and choose from the Menu Tools=>ImportExportTools=>Export all messages in the folder=>Plain text format (one file). This will create a text file with the key headers (From: To: Date: etc) and the body of the messages.

From what is stated above, all you do is send all the emails to a label (by filtering of course!) and then install Thunderbird. After which you add your email and you will notice your label becomes a folder. You then install ImportExportTools (installation instructions on the mainpage) and restart Thunderbird. When you restart just access the new menu and export! Boom! All the emails are in one file for easy manipulation.

Easy huh? Thank God for Google.

While googling up the problem I found this post by morfytastic.

Here’s a great tip if you have to “peel” a white background off an image which is much cleaner than using the magic wand, as the magic wand often leaves either a halo or a jagged/untidy edge-

1. copy the image to a new layer and delete the background layer
2. copy the image to a new layer again and INVERT it
3. copy the inverted layer into the clipboard, and switch off its visibilty for now
4. go back the the +ve image and create a layer mask
5. press ALT whilst clicking on the mask thumbnail
6. paste the inverted image, then click back to the image thumbnail in the layer palette
7. duplicate this new layer until necessary (5 times?) and delete the inverted layer you created at the start
8. merge down the layers one by one (Ctrl-E) choosing to “apply mask” each time.

Well that was easy! I did mine for about 7 layers and what do you know… I got it!

I’ll leave an example at some point later.

Never fear, we have the two files needed in a rar file for you here.

What you want to do is basically replace those two files. The first one is not absolutely necessary as FuriousMod has already formatted it for us (it should be 8.4kB) but the second file (Default.phoneformats) is more important to replace for CallerID to work.

So first, Download the file we talked about above which has the two necessary files. They are already in the respective folder locations but I’ll still go through the steps.

• Navigate to the following directory: (you may use iFile/iFunBox/SSH via WinSCP)

\System\Library\Frameworks\UIKit.framework\PhoneFormats

and if the single file (UIMobileCountryCodes.plist) is 8.4kB it is not necessary to replace it, but you can if you wish.

• Reboot the phone. (you can let the gevey ultra do its thing in the background while you do the next step.)

• Navigate to another directory:

\System\Library\PrivateFrameworks\AppSupport.framework

and Replace the Default.phoneformat from the rar file.

• Then, Reboot.

That second one is important to replace. I noticed the change in Formatting in Phone.app when the phone rebooted.

Furious Mod should still function without issues. Leave it to do it’s thing and within a minute you should have signal AND CallerID would be fixed!

If you get errors in Cydia, you can remove the Furious Mod Repository and it should Refresh cleanly.

I hope this has helped you out. The video where i saw the guy replacing the formats in the first file we talked about didnt work for me so I tried this and it works.

Clean up all that mess by using a simple program called A.F.5 Rename your files.

Since I read this lifehacker post a while back, I have been a frequent user of The Renamer. What this program does is easily rename your files so that XBMC picks them up and reads them properly.

I ran into some errors recently while using The Renamer and I decided to go on a program hunt! I some how ran into text replacers and not filename replacers. But a simple yahoo answer showed me the way!

You can simply rename your episode files using A.F.5 Rename your files.

It allows you to add Types of Characters in the new Filename whether it be String, Counter, etc. so you can customize your new Filename quite effectively! So for all your episodes; what you want is say a string, string, string, string, counter. Like this:

Some of them not displayed in order? You can use the Up and Down buttons to put them in order!

I must say this helped The Renamer get the correct names and no more errors again. Thanks to the creators of AF5!

Remember mNAV? The people who brought to Trinidad the Official Maps for Garmin and other GPS devices? They are working with NavFone to create an app for us to have maps on our iPhones. Exciting times for Trinidadian iOS users.

Blackberry users already have this option as an app has already made its way to Blackberry AppWorld. In this venture they used an Italian Company, Ubiest, which allowed them to give users a 15-day trial.  You can view more details on their website or their Facebook page.

From the looks of it, they are looking to take this map business on our mobile devices by storm! Not only is an iPhone app planned but one for our Android buddies as well. This is excellent news I must say as we all know how accurate Google Maps is with their Hybrid Maps.

If you visit a local forum, Trinituner, you will notice the talk about using google mapmaker to “fix” the roads in order to quell the offset in those maps. This is a tedious process and many have jumped onto OpenStreetMaps now.

Thankfully, with the NavFone iPhone app for Trinidad and Tobago this saves us from all of the hassle and we won’t have to worry about being “lost in the bush” again.

But nah Trinidad small… wuh yuh need that for?

Yes we hear this statement a lot but you never know, one day, you find yourself in the middle of Penal and you can’t find your way out. I’m sure this  app will more than suffice to help you navigate your way back home.

So how does it look? So far they provided us with a few images:

We expect to see it hitting the AppStore in mid-June and for the latest end of June.

With respect to pricing, it will be set at $49.99 USD. It will be a one time fee with updates throughout the year (about four (4) are expected). They are said to be working with NavFone about yearly updates. In NavFone’s current scheme we would have to pay the same fee again the next year but mNAV’s plan would be for a smaller update fee and an Over-the-air (OTA) update instead.

The maps would also be preloaded so if you don’t have a data plan, no worries!

To be honest, I’m a bit hyped for this release. We would finally be getting proper accurate maps for our entire country.

Would I pay the $49.99USD fee?
I am still debating it because I hardly travel to unknown places and for me it would not be a necessity. I’m certain though for those who like to venture out a lot and also persons who do a lot of deliveries, this will come in very handy. Also, compared to getting a Garmin GPS with maps this is certainly more affordable.

I will keep this post updated if any future developments arise.

First of all I want to say that I don’t watch television as much as I used to which is good but I still sometimes want to know what’s showing without bothering anyone who is watching the television.
Also sometimes our provider, the shows are not synced with the listing or even show information is not correct.

I ended up giving TV Guide Mobile app a try to see if it would work and it so did!

When you first use it, it asks for a zip code. For those not located in the US I used one for Florida:

What I did though is instead of having a list of 1000 channels to search through each time, I created the list of favorites for channels that I really cared to watch.

Yes they even had ZeeTV!

So far only Discovery was different tonight as it showed “Factory Made” instead of “Deadliest Catch.”

Also, if a provider’s show list doesn’t show up for a day, just switch it from say Dish to DirectTV. The channels in your favorites automatically change to suite once they are present in the provider’s list.

There is also an option to remind you of shows. I can see myself using this feature for NatGeo and Discovery.

I recommend this app if you wish to do like me and view your TV Listing on the go.

DataDeposit created by justinxxvii allows users to backup the necessary files for each app to Dropbox (yes finally!) so that we can not only restore to another device later on but also restore to other devices. You can basically share your progress in Angry Birds with your friends or family!

It does this with very simply and easy to follow menus. You can select individual apps you wish to backup and a popup will tell you the status and how much has been uploaded to Dropbox.

When you are on your newly restored device or your next device, just simply go to Cydia and install DataDeposit and tap “Restore From Dropbox.”

A list of all your backed up apps will begin to populate the screen and you can easily restore each one assuming you have already installed/synced your apps.

Of course you will need to be jailbroken to install apps from Cydia and have a Dropbox account.

If you dont have a Dropbox account, feel free to click here and sign up for Dropbox. Using this link will help me gain extra space and you will start with 250MB extra on top of your 2GB of space! We both gain!

As you may have known, Apple introduced a very nice fun piece to all their devices since iOS 4.3. ASLR.

In other words, some tweaks in Cydia are rendered useless until made compatible with it. You would recognize that one said AppBackup, the nice program creates nice tar balls of your apps so that you can use it to restore your apps when u redo your iDevice is now dead due to ASLR breaking PyObjC aka the backend of AppBackup.

You may think those tar balls are now useless?

Wrong!

What you can do is copy those said tarballs (that AppBackup created for you and you so nicely backed up and kept) back to the app’s original location. You can either use iFunBox on your PC and drag/drop the tarballs in each folder or SSH in to do the same. (to find the app folder, click User Applications tab in iFunbox, See Below)

You then use iFile (get it from Cydia) and locate the directory. (Applinks from Cydia makes this very easy!)

and tap on the tarball and “unarchive” it.

You should have no error (result = 0).

Load up the app and see everything is there! Just like before!

First Method

I must say thanks to the guys at Gamespot and especially LightSpecter101 in his post there.

Basically using your play and charge kit, a controller and said “dead” battery pack, you put on your 360, plug in your play and charge kit and put the battery in a controller. Plug the play and charge kit into the controller and you should see the light turn red. This means it is charging. But quickly it goes green. Green means it is not charging. As soon as it turns green unplug it from the play and charge kit and replug it in again.

You must repeat this process until the red light remains on. The poster goes into detail as to why this is so via the link above.

The Second Method

Thankfully i came across this method as I have a red controller with a red battery pack (I must thanks to jadedmoonstudio for lending me his whole setup) and it simply was not charging! Youtube did have an answer for us. Thanks to fraviaseeker from Youtube, his “paperclip fix” worked well!

Basically there are six terminals and you take the paperclip and short the 2nd and 5th terminal (left to right). Keep doing this until the clip stops getting hot.

Then, put the clip on the 1st and 5th terminal and then 2nd and 6th terminal to reset the logic board. All of this is outlined in the video above.

What i did after was put the battery to charge and it has been charging for over 5 minutes straight now (red light woohoo).
